🎓 GPA Calculator
ℹ️ What this tool does & how it works
A GPA is a weighted mean: an A in a 4-credit course moves it four times as far as an A in a 1-credit lab. This page sums credit × grade-point over total credits (the 4.00 scale: A=4.0 down to F=0.0, halves worth 0.3), shows every line of the working, and then answers the question students actually ask — how many credits of straight-A study to reach a target CGPA.
Why the unweighted average is the wrong answer
Averaging letter grades as if every course counted equally treats a one-credit lab the same as a four-credit core — and that is exactly how students accidentally report a number their transcript does not contain. Credits are the weights, full stop. The catch-up line is the same arithmetic read backwards: to reach target T from current credits C and quality points Q, future straight-A credits x must satisfy (Q+4x)/(C+x)=T, so x=(T·C−Q)/(4−T). When T approaches 4.0 that denominator shrinks and the required credits explode — which is the honest way of saying a 3.94 CGPA from a 3.2 start is not a plan, it is a wish.
