final = (goal − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w — that single line is the whole tool. The page then does the two things a bare formula cannot: refuses politely when the target is unreachable even at 100%, and prints what your final grade will be for every possible exam score, so the risk is visible instead of averaged away.

The two mistakes this prevents

First: plugging a negative "need" as panic instead of relief — a below-zero answer means you are already safe, and this page says so with a green badge. Second: trusting a site that rounds an unreachable target up to "aim for 112%" — an impossible target is a scheduling decision, not a study decision, and the honest answer is the one printed here.
